BCAC's Compelling Story
Stephanie Bosley and Jeff Lowenstein of BCAC presented details of the organizations Operation Warm program. BCAC plans to open a store like space at their East Street facility to provide needy families a dignified shopping experience. The store plans to operate November and December and will feature winter clothes and accessories especially for children. Many opportunities exist for individual and group donations for this project. In the past, this program has served over 2,000 area families. Bosley and Lowenstein informed us of other programs BCAC offers including their largest effort which is heating fuel assistance, where over 8,000 families are helped annually. The group also works to weatherize homes, solicit electricity discounts, provide food assistance, micro lending programs, transportation to child care facilities and financial literacy workshops.
Rotary Runaground!
The 45th Annual Josh Billings Runaground Triathlon was back in person this year after being forced into a virtual or on your own contest last season due to Covid-19. This year, the total number of teams was capped at 300. Big shout out to Rotary Club of Pittsfield team: Don Kuczarski, Jeff Hassett, Ron Latham and filling in for the injured Dave Hall was Alison Peters representing the Dalton Rotary. Team Pittsfield finished the grueling event in second place (Corporate Division)! Many thanks to friends, family and Rotarians that supported the athletes. Hopefully, next season will be back to fully normal to include the famous after event party at Tangelwood. Congrats Team Pittsfield!
Notes & Asides

Zoom Zoom: As announced in various forms, luncheon meetings are now available live via Zoom. If you cannot make our weekly gathering, please consider streaming the event via the following link https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84791340270?pwd=bm1zNkJPemF0MGJoLzZncW5KS3Judz09 Certainly fortuitous to have this all set to go for such occasions as last week's quick change to virtual!

Beer Garden Meeting: Reminder, this weeks meeting is a soiree. O'Laughlin's Beer Garden, behind the pub on Merrill Road. The fifth Thursday event begins at 5:00 PM.

Life of the Josh Team Athletes: Unwilling to wait for this week's evening adventures and perhaps still reveling from their recent Josh Billings RunAground Place finish, Sparks was granted access to the inner sanctum of our athletes. It should be noted that vicarious participation in the event still entitled some athletes to day drink despite appearing on the DL list at game time.

Kidding aside, an afternoon beer while on a Zoom call certainly reminds us of the way things were a year and a half ago. Let us all hope and pray that the improving infection numbers and vaccination rates will soon allow us to get back to fully normal lives.

Cheers to all!
