Nash Family Scholarship
Many of us knew Ken Nash well…but for those who didn’t, here’s some insight:
A rotarian for 32 years, Ken was a local businessman, adventurer and philanthropist.
He passed away in 2012.
Ken loved the Berkshires, Travel, Art, and Music…
He was an imposing man of few words…Ken was a doer…not a talker.
Ken had somewhat of a gruff exterior…but those who knew him knew he had a gigantic heart and a soft spot for helping those in need.
Ken was passionate about flying and was a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight…an organization that transported sick children and adults for treatment and care they needed anywhere in the country.
He and his wife Suzanne founded this scholarship to support students who had an interest in aviation, music and just plain needed some assistance to accomplish the goals that they have.
We’re doing just that….and I’d like to introduce this years Nash Family Scholarship recipient, Aiden Hyatt
Aiden Hyatt will graduate from PHS this month with a 94.2 GPA. During his years at PHS he
has been the president of the Chess Club, Chaired the District Attorney’s Advisory Board,
and been a member of the Big Jazz Ban, the Latin Club… and tutored math to English
Learning Students...to name a few of his activites.
He also holds a job at Friendly’s where he has worked since 2023.

Aiden describes himself as a determined, non-conformist, rebellious, thoughtful and stubborn
individual. When he sets his mind on something…nothing gets in his way.
He speaks (5) languages including Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Latin….AND
placed 11 th in the World Championship for freestyle Skateboarding.

Meghann Marcella, Aiden’s Guidance Counselor states that Aidan's motivation throughout
high school has always been to create a life for himself that is self-sufficient and fully
independent.
He has been strategic and methodical about his course selection and has been an advocate
for himself to reach his educational goals.
Few students have that type of insight needed to look at their four years of high school and
create an intensely rigorous pathway to success the way that Aiden has.
Meghann goes on to say that He is an amazing role model and mentor to
students…spending much of his free time helping others.

John Slote, Aiden’s latin teacher could not say enough about him. He states that Aiden’s
success is a result of his intelligence, enthusiasm for knowledge and the amount of time and
effort he puts into learning in and out of school.

Aiden will pursue a degree in Acoustic Engineering from Wentworth Institute.
