Update From Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier:

In a very casual presentation, heavy on the Q and A, Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier spoke to the Club last week about a number of House and State initiatives including:

  • House Redistricting: because of a population decline, the Berkshire delegation went from four to three representatives. She noted that the current delegation work well together.
  • Rail Access to the Berkshires: $275 million earmarked for rail infrastructure improvements, however results will be long time coming.
  • Driver’s License availability to all residents regardless of legal status:
  • Question 4 on the November Ballot: Referendum on the controversial driver’s license law
  • Real ID: Feds are pushing states to create better ID security
  • 62F Referendum: Law enacted in 1986 sets artificial limit on how much tax revenue Massachusetts may collect.

Golf Tournament Sponsors, Players and Volunteers needed
Pittsfield Rotary's golf tournament is on September 28 at Country Club of Pittsfield. Sponsors and players are needed (forms are available on the Club website). If you don't golf, Joan DiMartino is seeking volunteers to work the event.
Notes & Asides
If anyone wants to suggest a Senior at PHS or Taconic to be a Student of the Month for this coming year, please let Joan DeMartino know as soon as possible.

Speaking of Joan, she started her retirement with positive Covid test, but in true "Service Above Self" fashion, she attended and took the minutes of last week's directors' meeting by phone.

Curious about the progress of YMCA renovations? Jess Rumlow conducts tours of the YMCA at 3:30 on Fridays.

Last week's member featured Mark Busch, who lives with his wife, Anita, in Pittsfield; has two out of the nest children: Amanda and Jason; owner of Pierce Machine in Dalton; and was captain of the Club's Josh Billings Run-Aground team for 20+ years (now happily retired from that capacity).
