We are getting close to the start of the school year and obviously there is still a lot of uncertainty. I am hopeful that this year we will be able to resume with Students of the Month from both Pittsfield High & Taconic.
If you have any family members that are seniors at either school can you please reach out to me before I contact the Guidance Departments. I will need the students name as well as the school.
Because of several conflicts, the Paul Harris Dinner scheduled for September 18th has been canceled. Also, the golf tournament originally slated for this fall has been canceled and we will have the usual spring tournament next year.

Because the Holiday Inn is being used by the Courts making that space unavailable to us, the Auction Committee (Robert Harrison, Brooks Sherman, Alex Reczkowski and John Reynolds) has announced that the 2022 auction will be held at the Berkshire Hills Country Club on February 12, using RI’s theme this year “Serve to Change Lives” for the auction as well. Last week committee co-chair Brooks Sherman noted that as an interest gimmick, they hope to set up a ping-pong table(s) at the event to tie into the "Serve to Change Lives" theme.
Our district Governor sent the following message concerning the recent earthquake in Haiti:
Dear D7890 Rotarians,
We are deeply saddened to hear of the recent earthquake in Haiti and the damages it has caused. We are waiting to hear from Rotary International on the relief efforts RI is planning to set up, as in the past, in such situations. Once we get the information, we will share that with you immediately, for our Rotarians and their clubs to act on them. The Rotary Organization is not in the first responder role in major disaster situations like this. Organizations like the Salvation Army, Red Cross, AmeriCares, etc. take the lead as the first responders along with the local Fire, Ambulance and Law enforcement Departments. FEMA will also be involved in these efforts. After the damages are assessed, Rotary becomes part of the rebuilding efforts.
We will be in touch with you soon with more information. In the meantime, let us hope for the best as far as the victims are concerned.
Joanne District Governor 21-22 District 7890 Rotary International
