Veterans Outreach

Last week we heard from Mike King, a retired Army master sergeant who works as an accredited service officer through the Pittsfield office of Bilingual Veterans Outreach Centers of Massachusetts, Inc.  Mike serves veterans and their families throughout Western Massachusetts with veteran-related issues, most notably negotiating the bureaucracy of the VA. Mike collaborates with both local veterans agents and Soldier On. His office is located at 505 East Street - Ste 103, and he may be reached at 413-448-6052 M-F 8:30-4:30.

Food, also required by State regulations, will be catered by Mazzeo's.  Attendance is limited to 30 Rotarians and guests, which have already RSVP'd.  If you'd like to be added to the waiting list,  contact Joan DiMartino to let her know you are interested. Update on RI / USAID Partnership

Alex Reczkowski recently updated the membership on the status of the "Hearts of Europe" initiative that partners Rotary International with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and mentioned that each of us could expect an email survey (from Rachel Hermes) as a pre-project assessment. This reporter's survey arrived on 4/16, so you should have this in your inbox. Please take a few minutes to respond to this survey, which will provide a baseline for Rotary International to evaluate the project.

Rotary District Conference
This year's District conference will be an online event from Thursday, 4/29, through Saturday, May 1, and will include our District (7890) as well as District 7950. If you're seeking Rotary inspiration, information, fellowship and fun, register for this virtual event through the District website.
Trouble Reading Sparks?
There have been a number of members who have commented that the Sparks they receive by email only captures the first page. While I have no idea why some, not all, are experiencing this problem, ClubRunner software does offer a work around. At the top of the emailed Sparks is the following message: "Having trouble viewing this email? Click here to view it online." Be sure to click there. You don't want to miss out on important Club information.
Birthdays & Anniversaries
Only one birthday to celebrate this week: John Reynolds (4/17); and no Club anniversaries.
