Final Farewell at Sidelines
Final Farewell to our Beloved Friend!

Please join us at Sidelines this Thursday May 15, 2025 to join together, raise a glass and wish a final farewell to our friend Jeff Whitehouse!

Just a little history on Jeff and the Sideline:

Jeff was in charge of the book club. He would send an email on Friday afternoons inviting people for some fun reading and drinks! This would often be held at the Sideline. We would have a couple of drinks and analyze some great reads! The bartender used to place out a basket of Cheese Doodles - Jeff's favorite hors d'oeuvre - or as he preferred to call them - Sideline Shrimp! Sideline has especially ordered and will serve this delicacy Thursday May 15, 2025 in memory Jeff Whitehouse!

Jeff's Obituary is on Dwyer's site now.

Calling hours will be Sunday, May 18 from 12-3 at Dwyer's (North Street) with a Celebration of (Get a) Life at Mazzeo's afterward. We'll have a Club honor guard assembled at the funeral home from 12-1 so people can join as they are able and then be able to pay their respects.

The Board approved a match of all fines raised at our meeting on Thursday, May 22, with all proceeds being donated to the Jeff Whitehouse/Paul Harris Fellows Scholarship. Thank you!

The Recovery Room
The Recovery Room!

Christina is the owner of the Recovery Room in Pittsfield, a sports medicine facility that offers elite level care to everyday people. As a transplant to the Berkshires, Christina has become involved with various local organizations such as Jacobs Pillow, Barrington Stage, etc. She is a board member at Girls, Inc. and a 40 under 40 recipient this year. Her passion for generating opportunity for our community is evident is all aspects of her life, in treatment to her patients, business decisions, and community collaborations. Don't let her size fool you, Christina is a board certified athletic trainer who focuses her work on "patient centered care" which runs from analyzing the injury to assisting each patient to be able to return to the best form they can be. Dave Hall was one of her recent patients and vouches for this program!

Change a life - host a Rotary Youth Exchange Student
Pittsfield Rotary Club seeks host families for a Rotary Youth Exchange student.
We are seeking families to host an exchange student for the 2025-2026 academic school year. Students typically stay with a family for 3-6 months (ideally, we’re looking for 3 families to cover the academic year) and will receive training and support from Rotary to make this a success. Currently, we believe we are looking to welcome a student from Argentina to Pittsfield.

Briefly, we are looking for families to provide a safe and welcoming environment for trust and friendship to develop between the student and your family. This includes providing room and board for the student. All students must have their own bed. If the student must share a room, it should be with a child of the same gender and similar age. Successful families will teach the student about the local culture, and learn about the student’s culture.
The Rotary Club & District have Exchange officers & councilors to help support the student and families to make it a successful year.

You can find more information about being a host family in the Rotary International guide for host families:

Do you know someone that would be a great host?
Maybe your house is a little empty these days?
This is a great opportunity to welcome a student here and share our wonderful community with them.
Hosts report that it is such a fulfilling experience for the host family, too.
We're hoping to identify families to serve as hosts, so that at maximum it would be a commitment of half of the school year including someone new in your family.
What do you say? Can you volunteer or recommend someone?
Please share your ideas with me. Give me a call -- 413-441-8036 -- and let's figure out something great for a student!
Thank you for your consideration,
-Alex
