Talent Pathways at BHS
Last week we heard from Michele Sweet and Maryrose Williams about the Talent Pathways collaboration between Berkshire Health Systems and Berkshire Community College. BHS offers paid training opportunities where interested students learn valuable skills, earn certifications, and fast-track their progress toward a rewarding career in healthcare. Short staffing after the Covid-19 pandemic propelled BHS senior leaders into expanding had been offered for educational experiences. Programs are now offered for nursing assistants, medical assistants, LPN, associate's degree in nursing, LPN to RN bridge, biomedical engineering, and registered respiratory therapist.
Welcome Two New Members
At last week's meeting president Tom inducted two new Club members: Jessica Rizzo (sponsored by Erin Carlotto) and Dave Harrington (proposed by Erik Ungewitter). Please help make Jessica and Dave feel welcomed in the Club.

April Feed My Sheep
The next date for Feed My Sheep is Monday, April 7.   Five to seven volunteers are needed to assist with the activity.  We have access starting at 4:30 to start preparing. Help is needed for prep, serving (5:30 to 6:00), followed by clean up. If you have time and can help out please contact Nick Kirchner by email.  For those not familiar with with this periodic event, Feed My Sheep is a community meal program at the First Baptist Church in Pittsfield.  Rotary Club has been involved in the program for a number of years along with several other community organizations.  Each organization is part of a rotation that purchases, prepares, and serves a supper meal.  There are currently about 30 participants.
District Conference in Pittsfield
The District 7890 Conference this year will take place on May 2-4 at the Holiday Inn in Pittsfield. Activities will include a nationally acclaimed trivia night on Friday, and Saturday will be packed with a wide variety of programs and opportunities to learn or just relax and socialize. Rotarians will be able to join a community-wide "Meals for Good" food packing as well as a choice of many workshops and activities on Saturday Afternoon. (see the registration page on the district 7890 website). Saturday evening will celebrate the running of the Kentucky Derby followed by a gala dinner featuring keynote speaker, Pittsfield native Jeff Cadorette, who served on the Rotary International board of directors from 2018 to 2020. Jeff's dad was a past president of the Rotary Club of Pittsfield so it is an honor for our District to bring him home to share insights on Rotary International and his long career of service. For many years the District conference has visited eastern Massachusetts venues. This year we are bringing our conference home and we are hoping to have an outstanding turnout. Please make our Club and District Governor Vin proud with our turnout for this important event, where we will be "Strengthening Bonds and Celebrating Rotary Fellowship".

Rotary Support for Ukraine
Michael Mezheritskiy from the Avon Rotary Club is spreading the word to all Rotarians in District 7890 regarding a zoom meeting with Rostyslav, a Rotarian from the Ukraine who will be joining the Avon club meeting on May 16th via Zoom. He will start speaking around 7:45-7:50 a.m. Rotarians from around the district are encouraged to attend—either virtually or in person. Rostyslav will be sharing updates on several impactful projects where Clubs and others can get involved to directly support Ukraine. It’s a meaningful opportunity to show solidarity and make a difference. The in person breakfast meeting will take place at 160 Country Club Road in Avon, CT 06001.
