Mardi Gras Auction is Here!
Our 2023 auction is this week, Saturday, April 1! The catalog has already been finalized. Items will be transported from Molari Employment Services to Berkshire Hills on Friday. Please touch bases with Auction Chair Robert Harrison to see where you are needed as a volunteer for the event.
Berkshire Innovation Center
Last week we heard from Kate Light, Asst. Director, and Denise Johns, Business Manager, of the Berkshire Innovation Center (BIC), a catalyst to spark innovation and sustainable growth of technology-focused companies in Berkshire County. They do this through programs that promote learning and enrich people in technology-led career paths and by providing research and innovation space for people and companies to explore new technologies, all while convening and connecting a community of like-minded entities, like MIT, General Dynamics, and the Mass Tech Collaborative, and with funding from the US Department of Commerce they aim to close the gap between local supply chain capabilities and the needs of larger manufacturers through ongoing education, training, and technology assistance. Member companies have access to BIC's facility and to the advanced R&D equipment, training programs, laboratories, conference rooms, offices, and accelerator spaces. Usage fees are substantially discounted below market rices. In closing, Kate suggested the Club consider having BIC host a future meeting so Club members might be given a tour of the facility.
Honoring Jeff Whitehouse
Well, so much for a surprise. Someone let the cat out of the bag, leaking news that the Paul Harris Fellows Scholarship would be renamed the Jeff Whitehouse / Paul Harris Fellows Scholarship recognizing Jeff's leadership over the twenty year lifetime of this important scholarship. More details will be released at this week's Club meeting, in the interim rest assured that the professionals at Sparks Tower are aggressively pursuing an investigation into the source of the leak.
Interact Report
Interact had a successful fundraiser and collection through their "Helping Hands of Rotary" campaign. The collection was a great success and their fundraiser earned close to $1000 to help purchase additional hygiene products for the homeless in Pittsfield. Several Interact students have committed to volunteering at the auction, and more signups are expected this week as they did not have an Interact meeting this past week due to fieldtrips.
2023 Rotary Day of Service
May 20, 2023, has been designated Rotary Day of service, and our Club has agreed to be part of project pollination. Our Day of Service will concentrate on the community gardens at Conte School where we'll amend the soil and plant. Members should contact Adrienne DeBlieux Speed for details or to volunteer. Anyone wishing to acquire Rotary Day of Service t-shirts (at $10 / each) should contact president Alex.

Birthdays & Anniversaries

We have four birthdays to celebrate this week: Ron Latham (3/25), Fred Dery (3/25), Jeff Hassett (3/31) and John Perreault (3/31); and two Club anniversaries: Marshall Raser (57 a/o 3/31/66) and Crash O'Brien (31 a/o 3/26/92).
Club Lottery
With no winner at our last meeting, we added $28 to the available cash, bringing the available total up to $831, now with 21 cards remaining in the deck. We're looking for that elusive two of clubs.
