Stories
Trunk-or-Treat was a huge success, according to Gabriela Keator, the event coordinator.  Twenty-three cars were entered, ranging from exciting winter themed cars to ambulance and police vehicles.  The three winners of the night were Performance Automotive with a race car, three teachers from Conte with a “Tunnel Car” and a Graveyard car submitted by the Tyler Street Business Group. Morningside turned out to be the perfect location, providing an excellent venue for a fun family night out for the estimated 500 people who attended, many of whom were able to walk to the school. Special thanks are extended to the Pittsfield Police, the Sheriff’s Department, Dr. Jake McCandless, the high school volunteers, and all of the sponsors; and to the Rotarian volunteers: John O’Brien, Gail Molari, Kelly Marion, Luke Marion, Robert Harrison, Carol Leibinger-Healy (with Lauren and Jessica Healey), Vin Marinaro, Jodi Rathbun-Briggs, Jay Marion and Shaun Heimann.  Gabriela Keator, her parents Frederick and Renee Keator, as well as Gabriela’s classmates did a great job organizing this event and helping to decorate and clean up the night of the event.   While final numbers are not yet available, it appears the event raised approximately $3,000.
Tom Hamel announced that the painting detail at the home of past Club member Paul Bowlby was a great event; quick in, out and done.  Special thanks to Carr Hardware for donating the paint, the crew of painting volunteers (Jay Marion, Jeff Whitehouse, John McLaughlin, Mark McKenna, Ed O’Brien, Jayson Tanzman, Ron Latham and Ton Hamel), and Kelly Marion and Gail Molari who provided an excellent lunch.

Last week Ralph Cianflone made the pitch to the Club on behalf of Thanksgiving Angels, a collaboration of Pittsfield Food Pantries and Faith Communities to provide Turkeys and Fixings to local families.  Last year, there were 1,385 families (a total of 5,001 individuals) who benefited from this program.  Once again this year, Ralph Cianflone and Marsh Raser are kicking off a drive to help support the Thanksgiving Angels with a $500 contribution and they hope that Rotary members as individuals will support the cause.  Checks may be made out directly to South Congregational Church [in the memo section please note "Turkey Distribution"].   Cash or check donations may also be made through our Club.  Our contributions last year made a huge impact, providing food for families in need at this special time of year. The Rotary Club of Pittsfield through Benevolence and individual member contributions raised $3,770 last year, but as our food pantry guests emphasized when they visited last week, the need has increased this year.  Ralph and Marsh have set a goal of raising $5,000 this year. Please consider making a donation.
Please confirm with the auction committee your donations, please turn in your auction sheets to confirm if you can give the same as last year or changes need to be made.
