Thanksgiving!
Hopefully you and yours had a peaceful and joyous Thanksgiving celebration. The Patriots were the only bleak spot for those of us assembled at Sparks Tower for the great holiday.
Our thanks to New England Today for this little gem, hopefully nothing like this happened at your gathering!

Uncle Bob Lends a Hand

I spent my first Thanksgiving with my husband in his Irish-Italian neighborhood in New York City. As a newcomer, I was placed in charge of boiling 15 pounds of potatoes. When they were ready, I picked up the pan and surveyed the crowded kitchen for a sink in which to drain them. My husband’s elderly uncle Bob guided me to a small half-bathroom and grabbed the steaming pot. He started to drain the potatoes into the toilet, but he lost his grip on the lid and all the potatoes tumbled in! I screamed, “Oh no!” but Uncle Bob began fishing the potatoes out of the toilet. “No one will ever know,” he whispered. “Now just go out there and mash them.”

Sometime later, during the meal, my husband’s Aunt Tot leaned over and whispered, “Your potatoes are delicious. I think you are going to fit into this family quite nicely.”

Holiday Dirt
We haven't been together in a couple of weeks. One has to wonder how idle handed Rotarians behaved during the extended period of unsupervised existence. Did anyone get a three pointer? Maybe it was a button? Ski trips, warm trips, family trips? Celebrations of any sort? Maybe some grand news at your business? Perhaps that prodigal son finally popped the question? How about those grandchildren? Anyone burn their garage in an attempt to fry a turkey? You get the picture. Your fine masters would be more than pleased should a cache of good old fashioned dirt find it's way to us. As always, anonymity insured with a requisite helping of quid-pro-quo provided.
