A Fine Day
At our last meeting, the Club worked to financially support the Riello family, whose 13-year-old, AJ, is in need of a heart transplant.  As you would imagine, the situation has created a financial burden for the family. The Board agreed to match all fines gathered last week and Robert Harrison pledged up to $1,000 in matching funds for each $100 donation. The great news for the family is the room raised $2,076 - the Board matched that sum, and the room donations triggered the full $1,000 match! The Club will be sending $5,152 to the Riellos.

Binary 3rd Thursday
As a reminder, no luncheon this week as it is the 3rd Thursday of the month. Fear not, the crack event team has you covered! The soirĂ©e is scheduled for the 101 Restaurant (Holiday Inn - downtown Pittsfield) at 5:00 PM. Guests are always invited to join! College hoops will be on the TVs for those clutching their brackets.
Notes & Asides
District Conference: Please be on the lookout for your invite to the Annual District Conference, held this year in Pittsfield! Governor Vin and team promise a fantastic event, including a hospitality suite complete with a drink machine - ha! The Conference take place the first weekend of May, get your derby hat ready.

Guests of Honor: Erik and Erin Ungewitter welcomed daughter Grace to the luncheon, Cheryl McClusky, guest of Robert Harrison, Mike Daly, guest of Jim Bronson, our PHS student of the month Jason Sosa joined us for the luncheon.

Pinch Hitter: John Perreault filled in this week with his member minute. John, the longtime head of the Berkshire Humane Society, reminded us of all the breeds of animals they look after, not just cats and dogs - they help all kinds of four legged friends. John reminded us of the wide age range of children that have come into their lives, with the youngest child being 11 years old and the oldest is 36 - and many in between! Busy man indeed.
Reminder!
Auction is coming soon! If you have any last-minute items to collect or turn in, please do so ASAP, please include the donor form with all gift submissions. Wake the kids, call the neighbors, invite as many people as you can to attend thus year's auction slated for Saturday April 5th.
Change a life - host a Rotary Youth Exchange Student
Our club is so lucky to have identified 2 Pittsfield High School students to study abroad next year with Rotary Youth Exchange.
We're putting the plan together for this month's 3rd Thursday to have the Grand Reveal, when we learn where Clare Meighan & David Bernal will go, representing our community and our club.
Especially with two outgoing students, it would be awesome for us to welcome an exchange student here.
Do you know someone that would be a great host?
Maybe your house is a little empty these days?
This is a great opportunity to welcome a student here and share our wonderful community with them.
Hosts report that it is such a fulfilling experience for the host family, too.
We're hoping to identify at least two (if not more) families to serve as hosts, so that at maximum it would be a commitment of half of the school year including someone new in your family.
What do you say? Can you volunteer or recommend someone?
Please share your ideas with me. Give me a call -- 413-441-8036 -- and let's figure out something great for a student!
Thank you for your consideration,
-Alex
