Last week the Club awarded the our "special" scholarships:

 

Whitehouse / Paul Harris Scholarship: Payton Ramella (THS) $5,000

Nash Family Scholarship: Geivens Dextra (PHS) $2,500

Lyons Family Scholarship: Jane Whitford (PHS) $1,500

Lyons Family Scholarship: Preston Barners (THS) $1,500

 

The final "Club" scholarship was awarded last week to Ashley Lewis, a student at BCC, who was unable to attend the 6/15 meeting when the other "Club" scholarships were awarded.

Last weeks evening social at 5:30 p.m. at Camp Stevenson-Witawentin was a blast, and for Club old-timers reminiscent of the annual fall events held at the camp. Who could forget the infamous Jarts competitions - slightly inebriated men hurling sharply pointed objects - to be replaced years later with Corn Hole. Great time with good friends.

Since 2014, Rotary Club of Pittsfield has been making Kiva loans for entrepreneurs doing amazing things. Kiva uses crowdfunded microloans as a force for good, creating a space where people can have one-to-one impact, and together, expand financial access for all. Check out the Kiva link on the Club's website to see the positive impact our Club has had. To that end, redcently Dave Hall invited Club members to join the Kiva committee which oversees the Club's Kiva investments. If you'd like to participate, contact Dave.

Gail has faithfully organized our quarterly shift for Feed My Sheep for the past nineteen years. Gail is retiring, and the Club is re-evaluating its commitment to the food program. The bottom line is that for us to continue preparing meals, we need a member to step up to take over the coordination. Are you that member? Please let incoming president John Hudnall know.

Club dues bills are being prepared, and will be sent out at the end of the month. Members will again be allowed to pre-pay for lunches. More information to follow.

The Rotary Club of Pittsfield Foundation typically solicits donations from members each spring, however, as Foundation president Jeff Hassett recently noted, because of the aggressive fundraising for the Whitehouse / Harris Scholarship in April, the Foundation board of directors felt that members may feel tapped out. If any Club member would like to contribute to the Foundation it would be appreciated.
