Thursday 5/16 is 3rd Thursday and there is NO MEETING. Instead, we will meet on Wednesday 5/15 at the Stationary Factory. Starting at 7 PM, Jim Bronson will host a trivia contest night. Everyone is encouraged to join!
This week we were graced with a group of incredible high school students that received our Service Above Self Awards. These students and hopefully future Rotarians have amassed amazing resumes of academic, sports and student government achievements. More impressive is their commitment to local charitable organizations which include the Brekshire Humane Society and the Immigration center to name a few. It's simply amazing how these students maintain above 100 GPAs while donating their significant efforts to the community. A well deserved round of applause to these future community leaders.
The annual Rotary Day of Service is on Saturday, May 18, starting at 9:00 a.m. As a follow-up to our fund raising for Habitat for Humanity at our auction, the Club will be working with Habitat for Humanity at the new home they constructed on Gulf Road in Dalton. We've been instructed to wear painting clothes.
Vin Marinaro will be the District Governor for the upcoming Rotary year (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025), and to mark the occasion, the district is having an installation brunch for Vin on Sunday, June 23, at the Pittsfield Country Club. The Club's award-winning Josh Billings team is seeking a replacement canoeist. Must be reasonably fit, a strong swimmer, and willing to suffer abuse from the more seasoned team-mate.
This week we celebrate one birthday: Phil Massery on 5/5; and two Club anniversaries: John Perreault (20 years a/o 5/6/04) and Greg Knight (22 years a/o 5/9/02).
