At our last meeting we heard from Col. Adam Latham, who provided a general status overview of the Army, touching on ISIS, counter-insurgency, Iranian, Chinese and European challenges, before opening up to a wide range of member questions. Col. Latham is the son of Ron Latham, is a 1997 graduate of PHS, and is no stranger to Rotary.
Auction chair Robert Harrison is pulling together an auction debrief sometime in May. If you'd like to be part of that discussion let Robert know, or if you have specific suggestions to make our annual auction more successful, pass those suggestions on to Robert.
At our last meeting, Adrienne deBlieux-Speed reported that the SpringFling Cash Calendars raised $7,597 for the Club's Environmental Committee. Congratulations to Adrienne for this successful fund raiser.
The annual Rotary Day of Service is coming up on Saturday, May 18. As a follow-up to our fund raising for Habitat for Humanity at our auction, the Club has made plans to do something for Habitat for Humanity in Dalton as our project. More details to follow, but put this date on your calendar.
The PHS Rotary Interact Club will be holding a walk-a-thon, "Voices Against Violence," an awareness walk for sexual assault and domestic violence from 10:00 to 11:30 on Tuesday, April 30. The Club board of directors voted to allocate $500 to the cause, and any fines collected at our meeting on April 26, will go to the cause. All funds raised for this event will go to the Elizabeth Freeman Center. For additional information, contact Erik Ungewitter.
