Because the Sheriff was unable to make the Club meeting last week, Dave Hall stepped in to give a brief overview of the Kiva loans provided by the Rotary Club of Pittsfield Foundation. The Foundation has nineteen loans outstanding. Most of these are for very practical applications, like livestock for breeding purposes, tools, sewing machines or other basic business infrastructural items. Members were urged to get involved by contributing directly to Kiva or through donations to the Kiva account of the Foundation. Any time you want to check on the status of the Club’s Kiva loan program you are welcomed to click on the “Kiva Loan Page” link from the Club’s website.
During last week's lunch Mike Hinkley provided the Club with a sneak preview of the ensemble would be donning for "Walk A Mile" 2015 - his Tom Brady uniform with his very classy red pumps. The photo to the left showing Mike's best profile tells it all. The Board of Directors committed $500 to the cause benefiting the Elizabeth Freeman Center. Mike also collected $500 in direct donations from Club members at the meeting (up from $433 he collected last year). Mike was pumped.
At their August meeting the Club board of directors voted to classify Jeff Whitehouse as "Super Senior Active." Probably the first time "Super" and "Jeff Whitehouse" was ever used in the same sentence.
At last week's luncheon, President Kelly announced that there were still twenty-two members whose dues were past due. The Club had to pay RI early this year which put the Club into a difficult cash flow situation. If you are one of the twenty-two who are still unpaid, a little help here?
