Rotary Day of Service
Jeff Whitehouse wanted to point out the generosity of the following contributors who made our day of service possible: Mike Messer from Big Y, Dave O'Neil from Currency Coffee, John O'Brien from Crescent Creamery and John Hudnall from CT Brigham.  Thank them if you see them.
Not to mention Jackson Hudnall who is clearly running the show!

District Attorney Andrea Harrington
Our current District Attorney, Andrea Harrington, gave a nicely composed presentation on the programs and approaches to issues her administration is focusing on.  These include the approach to violent crime including expanding the  mission of the Law Enforcement Task Force, evidence based prosecutions and cold case investigations.  They have added a Domestic Violence High Risk team, expanded the child abuse unit, are targeting drug and gun traffickers and focusing on the public health epidemic of drug overdoses.  They have made use of the VWA Program to expand equity in many sectors along with using diversion services that address youth behavior and accountability.
Notes & Asides
Erik Ungewitter sent an email letting us know that he is trying to put a group of 6 or so club members together to help with the United Way meal packing event on April 23rd. Please let him know if you can help out that day and he will try to coordinate a group time that works for everyone interested.

Save the date:  The golf tournament has been moved to September 28, 2022

Alex Henner a senior from PHS joned us last week.  He is hoping to study mechanical engineering at UMass

Our fearless acting President Alex will will be heading to Serbia May 5th through 10th and would welcome suggestions for gifts to be given to the Rotary Clubs he will visit.
BerkShares Encouraging Businesses to Join
Last month we had a fabulous speaker discussing digital BerkShares.  We thought we would share this information:

Excitement is building around the new BerkShares mobile payment app! We've been approached by several media outlets eager to share this precedent-setting story.
Digital BerkShares combines the economic benefits and community values embedded in our local currency with a convenient, cost-effective scan-to-pay capability only for our region's businesses.
If you haven't already, register to accept digital BerkShares at your local business to be prepared for the public debut.
The beta version is now available for download for local businesses and can be set up on your mobile or tablet device. Sign up by scanning this QR code or download the app now from the App Store or Google Play to get started. (Note that, with the core payment and security functionality is all in place, we're still fine-tuning aspects of the user experience; your feedback as a business is helpful at this stage.)
Thanks to the generosity of a donor, each user to download the app and link their bank account gets 10 bonus BerkShares. Another donor has offered an additional 10 BerkShare bonus to food related businesses and their staff (think: farms, restaurants, value-added producers).
Need assistance? Reach out to us at info@berkshares.org or (413) 528-1737 to schedule an in-person appointment to set up your app. Bookkeeping resources for small businesses can be found here.

Thank you again for your interest and participation in BerkShares! We look forward to working with you and your business in the months to come.
Warmly,

Rachel Moriarty
