Again a light summer turnout. John McLaughlin had the member minute noting that he was still on his starter wife! That takes hard work from both parties. We had VP Jim Bronson join in the fleecing of the club in the name of fines. He and John have a great standup act---tough to beat!

We had a great pair of speakers: Linda Dulye and Jen Roccobruno who started the "Safe Swim Pittsfield" project. Designed to address the recent drownings of some of our Pittsfield youngsters by teaching them safe water skills, safety and training. What great work.

Last week we were visited by Fran Jeffries, a member of the Bridgewater (MA) Rotary Club (District 7950). She noted that she became a member of Rotary very shortly after the Supreme Court handed down the decision that Rotary International needed to admit women into its membership. Fran is a Rotary Peace Fellow and is chair of her District's Peace Building Within Committee, and she spoke about RI's Day of Peace celebration on September 21. She encouraged our Club to plan an event to tie in with this Day of Peace.
