Our best luncheon speakers come to us by way of member referral. If know of someone interesting that you think the Club might enjoy hearing from, please share your ideas with John Reynolds.
Last week we heard from Ida M. Patella, Family Mentor Coordinator at Berkshire Housing Development Corporation, who discussed the new Family Promise Mentoring Program, whose goal is to provide advocacy to families that are in need of support and guidance to become more self- reliant. Ida spoke about local families who often face challenges in maintaining stable housing, managing budgets on limited resources and connecting to community resources. The program is actively recruiting volunteers to become mentors to a family which could be a one or two parent household with one child or children. Mentors receive training and ongoing support to fulfill this role with a willing family, and are asked to make a one-year commitment of one to two hours weekly to the program.

The board voted to reinstate the $2.00 fine for members needing to leave the meeting before the speaker. Please make the effort to stay to hear the speaker and the 1:15 meeting end time.
