Our guest speaker this week was Serena Johnson, the Managing Director of "The Love of T" foundation. Sometimes we may come across a day where it would be great to be able to talk to someone about our feelings without any judgement! Love Of T’s mission is to promote access to and address gaps in behavioral healthcare services while building relationships and fostering community conversations on how to promote systemic change. Love of T was founded by Luke Fitzgerald after his mother, Teresa (known as T), died by suicide. It was made painfully clear that change was needed in behavioral healthcare services here in Berkshire County. Teresa was somebody that was always there for family, friends, neighbors, whoever it was that needed her. She would always, without hesitation, take time to spend hours on the phone or just sit with somebody that was in need of just an ear. Teresa’s love and care for her community is exactly how Love of T aims to close the gaps in behavioral health care in Berkshire County. Serena joins Love of T with over six years of non-profit experience. A native of Los Angeles, she worked in the arts building out fundraising infrastructure culminating in a $3 million capital campaign to build a new theater in Glendale, CA. In 2020, she turned her focus towards supporting others on their own mental health journey when she was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety. As a child of addiction, she understands first hand how a lack of mental health support can impact one’s ability to thrive in this world. Serena is deeply passionate about connecting people to the services they need in a world where those services are woefully under-provided.
