Last week John O'Brien introduced us to our newest member, Jim Bronson, a Pittsfield resident, and owner/manager of Your CBD Store on Elm Street in Pittsfield. Please help make Jim feel welcomed to the Club.
Last week president Shaun reported there would be three Rotary billboards installed in Berkshire County that come as a result of our collaboration with BCAC on their Operation Warm program. It should be noted that in an inspiring gesture of "Service Above Self," the Pittsfield phone number posted on the billboard is the personal cell phone of president Shaun himself.
Members will recall that as a result of the Covid pandemic, the Club's attendance requirement had been set aside. President Shaun announced last week that at the next Club board meeting (June 10) there would be a discussion regarding reinstating the requirement. Any member wishing to weigh in on this issue should contact president Shaun or another board member prior to that meeting.
Last week president Shaun reported on the recent passing of Tom Ditello, who died on May 5. Tom was lately an honorary member of our Club, but has been with us for 44 years, having joined in 1976.
We're back to live meeting at Mazzeo's. Please RSVP your intent to Joan DiMartino (joan.dimartino@gd-ms.com) by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday so she may give Mazzeo's a head count.
Each year, the Rotary Club of Pittsfield recognizes two individuals, a man and a woman who are not Rotarians, and who have made significant contributions to our community through volunteer activities. Their activities have created lasting change in the lives of individuals and families, activities that have made this community a better place to live, work and raise a family. The nominees are not necessarily high profile individuals, but persons who have provided service above self to others. The 2021 award will be made on June 17. If you have a person you would like to nominate, or for additional information, please contact Kagan Award Committee Co-Chair Ed Forfa soonest.
There is one birthday to celebrate this week: John Hudnall (5/28); and two Club anniversaries: Ken Sewall (37 years a/o 5/24/84) and Gail Molari (23 years a/o 5/28/98).
