Last week we heard from Christine Macbeth, President and CEO, and Dr. Jennifer Michaels, Medical Director, who spoke about the Brien Center, Berkshire County’s largest provider of behavioral health and addiction services. The Center employs almost 500 people who work at 26 locations county-wide. We learned that mental illness and addiction are among the most stigmatized diseases in the world. The Brien Center is dedicated to ending the stigma in our community. Guided by the belief that everyone in Berkshire County benefits when people are emotionally healthy, the Center doesn’t just serve children and adolescents. Rather they serve entire families by calming the crisis and providing strength and support for better days ahead. |
