Sources confirmed to Sparks that word of the magnificently efficient meetings recently chaired by VP Reczkowski made its way north and found the vacationing President Murphy. While we could not confirm that a palace coup was underway, we took great interest in the vim and vigor the President displayed as he gaveled the meeting to order. At press time, x-ray results of the gavel were not immediately available. On condition of anonymity, a representative of the testing firm stated, "I'd be shocked if this poor thing doesn't have at least a hairline fracture." Welcome home Mr. President!
Members rapidly accepted a proposal whereby fines collected were matched by the Club with proceeds directed towards Hattian relief. Shelter boxes were reviewed along with other options to assist the region including cooperation with the District Office. The fine masters were at their best, collecting $380 yielding $760 with the Club match.
Due to a scheduling snafu, the scheduled speaker was unable to attend our luncheon. Many thanks to Eric Schaffer for filling in at the last second! Eric provided a brief synopsis of the updated Avenues of Service. He reminded us that the Avenues are great tools to help the Club remain strong and provide growth in the future. The presentation detailed Club, Vocational, Community, International and the newly added Youth category as our Avenues of Service.
We are getting close to the start of the school year and obviously there is still a lot of uncertainty. I am hopeful that this year we will be able to resume with Students of the Month from both Pittsfield High & Taconic.
If you have any family members that are seniors at either school can you please reach out to me before I contact the Guidance Departments. I will need the students name as well as the school.
Because the Holiday Inn is being used by the Courts making that space unavailable to us, the Auction Committee (Robert Harrison, Brooks Sherman, Alex Reczkowski and John Reynolds) has announced that the 2022 auction will be held at the Berkshire Hills Country Club on February 12, using RI’s theme this year “Serve to Change Lives” for the auction as well. Last week committee co-chair Brooks Sherman noted that as an interest gimmick, they hope to set up a ping-pong table(s) at the event to tie into the "Serve to Change Lives" theme.
Dues bills have long since been sent to the membership via email. If you want a paper copy, or would like an invoice that includes prepaying for 44 lunches, let Jeff Hassett know and he will send you a revised invoice. As of this writting, the Club has received payments from 37 members, with 10 still outstanding.
