At last week's meeting, Dave Hall stepped in for ailing John O'Brien and presented the Paul Harris and the Nash Family Scholarships.

 

 

The Paul Harris Scholarship, which recognizes a student who overcame personal hardships, was awarded to Sara Hernandez-Perdomo, from THS.

 

 

The Nash Family Scholarship, which recognizes musical accomplishment, was awarded to twins, Gerdrose Jean Louis and Gerdie Jean Louis, both from PHS. Gerdie Jean Louis was unable to attend the meeting due to a prior commitment.

Members will recall that as a result of the Covid pandemic, the Club's attendance requirement had been set aside. President Shaun has announced that at the next Club board meeting (June 10) there would be a discussion regarding reinstating the requirement. Any member wishing to weigh in on this issue should contact president Shaun or another board member prior to that meeting.

Last week John Perreault reported that the Ralph Cianflone Splash Pad at Clap Park would be dedicated on June 10. Cianflone family members (notably Louise and David) will attend, and box lunches from Mazzeo's will be served.

We're back to live meeting at Mazzeo's. Please RSVP your intent to Joan DiMartino (joan.dimartino@gd-ms.com) by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday so she may give Mazzeo's a head count.

There are four birthdays to celebrate this week: John Hudnall (5/28), Craig Fischer (5/30), Joel Greenberg (5/31), and Randy Johnson (6/2); and no Club anniversaries.

There was no winner at our last meeting, so there is $164 in the pot, with 44 cards remaining in the deck.

Poor John O'Brien. This month we celebrate JUNE DAIRY MONTH, observed since 1937, promoting national awareness of the quality and nutritional benefits of refrigerated dairy foods; but also DAIRY ALTERNATIVES MONTH, an event that encourages us to eliminate dairy products from our diet and explore alternative foods made from beans, nuts or grains.  Small wonder John is perpetually confused.
