Joan DiMartino thanked all the Rotarians who attended and Mazzeo's for another fantastic evening benefiting our Foundation.  Unfortunately attendance was low so she is planning a "Cash Calendar" for August.   Keep this in mind if you have gift certificates to donate.
Kimball Farms
Dolly Curletti and Melissa Metcalf from Kimball Farms wee our speakers last week. Dolly has been the marketing director since 1999 and Melissa her assistant since 2001. Dolly assisted in the development of the PineHill assisted living center and Life enrichment memory programs, as well as helping achieve five year accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Kimball Farms falls under the Berkshire Health Care System and offer a continuum of care through there life care community, the only one in Western MA. They offer independent living through 150 apartments, assisted living with 48 rooms, memory care program in a secured facility, and a 74 bed total nursing care center. Through their Life enrichment program everything is taken care of from meals and laundry to having your bed made. With the comfort of knowing that their is always nursing staff nearby to deal with any problems that arise. They are also in the planning stages of a new gym and pool
February Students
We have new students for February please make them feel welcome:

Taconic High School:                    Ranjana Liqutla
Ranjana is in the Science and Engineering Academy at Taconic and has completed six AP courses to date and currently enrolled in four more.  Her academic success is supported by earning the Massachusetts Superintendent’s Award and the Massachusetts State Science Fair Finalist Award.  She participates in the Chemistry Olympiad Club and Berkshire Youth United, and for the past five years has been volunteering for American Red Cross.  Ranjana is planning on attending college, hopefully RPI, and major in biology.
 
 
Pittsfield High School:                 Ethan McCandless
Ethan is active in school and has participated in Mock Trials, Best Buddies, Class Council, Latin Club, National Honor Society and Quiz Team.  He has run Track for two years and cross-country for four years, having served as Captain for the past two.  For community involvement, he serves on the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Youth Advisory Board.  After high school, Ethan plans to study forestry, biology, or environmental law with the hopes of becoming a national park ranger, urban forester or environmental lawyer.
 
 
St. Joe High School:                      Anita Curtin
Anita participates in cross country, soccer, swimming, softball, track and the Spring play.  She is also a school ambassador and helps with fundraising events.  Outside of school, she is active in her church and has been an alter server since 3rd grade.  Over the summer she has been involved with Becket Chimney Corners YMCA as a camper and an assistant counselor.  This past December, she was in Haiti assisting with the Haiti Plunge.  Anita is looking into smaller Catholic colleges, and likes Saint Michael’s, where she plans to pursue a medical or environmental degree

Dictrict Conference Plans
From DG Kyong Wilson we learn that the District Conference is planned for April 29 to May 1st at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis, MA.  This year's theme is Hawaii 7890. The conference opens on Friday evening at 6 pm with a cocktail hour followed by a delicious Luau dinner. On Saturday the general session at will begin at 9:00 am with registration and breakfast starting at 7:30 am, followed by exciting breakouts.  Youth exchange students and the South African VTT teams will also  be presenting. Jeff Whitehouse reported last week that projected attendance at the Paul Harris Dinner on May 7 (at Cranwell) is up to 90. If you have not yet responded, what are you waiting for?  If you have commited to underwriting the event, please get yor check to Jeff Hassett.
