Stories
A fast and furious club assembly was held last week with reports from all the various committees. I have attached the treasurer reports to the back pages for review. Mike Hinkley reported that the foundation will continue on its brick and mortar campaign and has made donations to repair the playground and to ths South Congregational church food pantry for some repairs here. Tom Hamel presented the Benevolence committee report that we have given $10k over the last three months, continue to help with food, fuel, and scholarships. Anyone interested in helping on this committee should contact Tom. Dave Hall is looking for us to recruit new members, if you know of anyone who seems to be a true leader and would be a good fit for Rotary get them involved or pass their name on to Dave. John Reynolds is always looking for intersting speakers for our luncheon, if you know of anyone please let John now.

Our students for October were introduced:

Caroline Fairweather from Taconic is involved with many theater companies including the Berkshire Theater Group, Barrington Stage, as well as the schools drama program and annula Shakespeare production. She is a member of student council. Aside form being a "lefty" with decent handwriting her proudest accomplishment was receiving the Willams book award this past spring. Caroline will be applying to Syracuse, Ithaca, Williams, and Wagner colleges to pursue Bachelor of fine arts in musical theatre.

Edouard Tremblay from St Joe is an accomplished piano player and is involved with the school band as a singer and bass guitar player. He has also earned his black belt in Uechi-Ryu Karate after 11 years of dedication. He hopes to attend RPI in the fall to study engineering

Shelia Atiemo from Pittsfield High has excelled in music and math and is very involved with her school including playing alto saxophone in the school band, member of the capital gains club, captain of the girls track and field , volleyball team and head of the tutoring for National Honor Society. A strong Ghanaian culture and continuous support and encouragement from her family is what she believes has helped her become a strong leader. She is applying to Harvard, Bentley, BU, NYU, MCLA, and UMASS to pursue accounting.
Knights of Columbus are having a Casino Night fund raiser on October 24th contact Tom Hamel if you are interested
The District's annual Leadership Institute will take place in Chicopee on November 2.  If you are interested in learning about the workings of Rotary at the local, district and national level, make plans to attend.  You can find out more about this event from the District website or from President Kelly.
The annual RCPF Wine Pairing Dinner has been scheduled for Saturday, March 12, 2016.  Please get it onto your calendar now so that you don't schedule in conflicts.
District 7890 will be hosting the annual RI Foundation dinner in Agawam on November 5.  Sign up online through the District website, or speak with President Kelly for details.
At last week's luncheon, President Kelly announced that there were still twenty-two members whose dues were past due.  The Club had to pay RI early this year which put the Club into a difficult cash flow situation.  If you are one of the twenty-two who are still unpaid, a little help here?
