The Benevolence Committee reviews requests and makes recommendations for the disbursement of benevolence funds. Benevolence Applications are available by completing the fund request application above for grants for this program year posted on our website.
 
The Club distributed over $50,000 plus in support which was raised through special events, fundraisers and donations during the year.  The largest portion coming from the Rotary Club of Pittsfield Auction which is held annually in January. 
 
The following local nonprofit organizations or programs received grants in support of activities benefitting low-income and under resourced individuals serving primarily Pittsfield residents.  The programs funded included Barrington Stage Co. Kids Act for Camperships, Berkshire Baby Box for support of Pittsfield infants, Berkshire Family YMCA for Camperships, Berkshire Music School for Financial Aid, Boys' & Girls' Club of the Berkshires for Camperships, Braves United at Taconic High School for a Food Pantry, Create A Dream for gifts, Dalton CRA for Camperships for Pittsfield children, Elder Services of Berkshire County for Meals on Wheels, Elizabeth Freeman Center for Walk A Mile in Her Shoes, Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center for Camperships, Goodwill of the Berkshires & Southern Vermont for a Forklift,  Hillcrest Dental Care for Financial Aid, Kiwanis Club of Pittsfield for Flags of Honor, Literacy Volunteers for Tutor Training, Moments House for Program Support, National Alliance on Mental Illness for Berkshire County for Family Counseling , Pittsfield Little League/West Field for landscape items, Pittsfield Parade Committee for Sponsorship, Pittsfield Police Department DARE for local 5th graders, Rotary Reads for Community Preschool Books, Shakespeare in the Park for Camperships, St. Agnes for Camp Holy Cross for Camperships for Pittsfield youth,  STRIDE Adaptive Sports Program, Western Mass Boy Scouts for Camperships for Pittsfield Youth.
 
In addition to the above grants, the Club also distributed grants for food programs and pantries at St. Mark’s, First United Methodist Church, Berkshire Community College, the Christian Center, St. Stephen’s Table, Christian Assembly Church, Reigning Love Church, Stop Hunger Now (through Lenox/Pittsfield Soccer Booster Clubs), St. Agnes in Dalton, Salvation Army, South Congregational Church, St. Joseph’s as well as the Turkey Angels Program.  Rotarians also participate in the Feed The Sheep program four times a year providing the meal for the community attendees.  This fall they will also participate in their annual food drive at local supermarkets, businesses and schools. 
 
Global/International grants went to support Polio Survivors RAG for donations toward hand powered wheel chairs oversees, South Africa VTT Team for early education school supplies and for Guatemalan Communities for the construction of wells for clean drinking water.
 
The Club distributed scholarships to students at St. Joseph High School, Pittsfield High School, Taconic High School and Berkshire Community College.
